Nobu Hospitality Expands to New York City and Bangkok

Nobu Hospitality has announced plans to open two new Plaza Athénée Nobu Hotels — one in New York City and one in Bangkok — both scheduled to debut in 2026. Developed in partnership with AWC, these properties will bring refined luxury to landmark heritage buildings in two of the world’s most celebrated cities.

The Plaza Athénée Nobu Hotel and Spa New York will be located on the Upper East Side, close to Central Park and nestled within the neighborhood’s historic fabric. The Plaza Athénée Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok will occupy a prime riverside position along the Chao Phraya River, placing it at the heart of Thailand’s capital.

The New York property will introduce Nobu’s first hotel in the city with 145 keys, including suites that feature distinctive indoor-outdoor glass terraces and private gazebos. The hotel will also include a dedicated townhouse offering exclusive, personalized service for guests seeking a private urban retreat. Wellness amenities will include a traditional Japanese onsen alongside a full spa and wellness center, while dining will showcase Nobu’s signature culinary offerings, including an omakase experience, bar and lounge. A rooftop venue designed for private events and celebrations will provide sweeping city views, enhancing the hotel’s luxury appeal.

Plaza Athénée Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok will mirror New York’s commitment to high-end dining and thoughtful amenities. The Bangkok project will repurpose the historic building that once housed the East Asiatic Company, founded in 1884, transforming it into a contemporary, elegant hotel while preserving its architectural character.

“We are profoundly grateful that AWC has entrusted us with the development of two of their most valuable properties, in the most iconic buildings and historic areas of two exceptional cities,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality. “We are privileged to collaborate closely with the AWC team, led by visionary CEO Khun Wallapa Traisorat, who is spearheading an exciting and innovative approach to the hospitality industry. The Plaza Athénée Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok and the Plaza Athénée Nobu Hotel and Spa New York will redefine the standards of luxury and sophistication not only in Thailand but also in the U.S. This partnership allows us to embark upon an extraordinary journey together.”

Both hotels emphasize a blend of heritage preservation and modern design, pairing Nobu’s culinary and wellness expertise with thoughtful renovations that honor each location’s history. With openings planned for 2026, the two Plaza Athénée Nobu properties aim to attract luxury travelers and local guests seeking refined dining, restorative wellness experiences, and elegant event spaces in two iconic urban settings.
