Newport Flower Show Marks 20 Years of Stylish Spring Celebrations

Lovely Newport, RI, provides the picturesque setting for the 20th annual Newport Flower Show, taking place June 19–21. Held on the expansive green lawns of the Rosecliff mansion, this year’s theme is American Beauty – Timeless Style, a fitting tribute because the gardens at Rosecliff were the birthplace of the American Beauty rose. The show features spectacular garden displays, expert-led lectures and hands-on demonstrations, plus an opening night cocktail party and buffet. Visitors can browse the Oceanside Boutiques and the Gardeners’ Marketplace for unique plants and garden accessories.

In addition to the main exhibits, the event offers a wide range of activities for all ages and interests. Botanical Arts Division classes and Floral Design Division classes provide inspiration and instruction for amateur and experienced florists alike. Photography workshops teach techniques for capturing gardens and floral arrangements, while children’s classes introduce young attendees to gardening basics and creative plant projects. The mix of entertainment, education and shopping makes the show a full-day experience for families, hobbyists and professionals.

This year’s lineup of special guests brings national and international expertise to the show. International floral designer and author Jane Godshalk, honored with the National Medal in Floral Design by The Garden Club of America, will share her creative approach to floral art. Professional gardener and historian Peter J. Hatch, co-author with Alice Waters of A Rich Spot of Earth: Thomas Jefferson’s Revolutionary Garden at Monticello, will offer historical perspective and practical gardening advice. Award-winning designer and lifestyle expert P. Allen Smith, known for his best-selling Garden Home series, will present design ideas and gardening techniques suitable for a range of landscapes.

Tickets are currently on sale for the Newport Flower Show. Whether you’re seeking design inspiration, specialized instruction or a relaxing day among historic gardens, the show delivers a rich blend of beauty and expertise. The combination of Rosecliff’s historic grounds, carefully curated exhibits and a schedule of talks and workshops ensures that visitors leave inspired and equipped to bring timeless American beauty into their own gardens.
