New IHG Hotel Opens in Australia: Location, Features & Booking Tips

InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the addition of a new property to its Australian portfolio with a planned opening in Sydney. Situated in the affluent Double Bay precinct at 33 Cross Street, the hotel will be extensively refurbished and will reopen as the InterContinental Sydney Double Bay in January 2014.

The redesigned property will offer a full range of luxury amenities tailored to both leisure and business guests. Planned features include a ballroom accommodating up to 300 guests, flexible meeting and event spaces, an all-day dining restaurant, a club lounge, a café, and a relaxed lounge area. Guests will also enjoy a rooftop pool and bar, providing elevated views and a refined social atmosphere.

Jan Smits, CEO of IHG Asia, Middle East and Africa, described the signing as a major step for the InterContinental brand in Australia, noting that the Double Bay site has long been seen as an ideal location for a new luxury hotel serving locals and visitors alike.

When it opens, InterContinental Sydney Double Bay will be IHG’s second property in Sydney and its fifth in Australia, reinforcing the group’s commitment to expanding its presence in the region. Globally, IHG operates 169 hotels and resorts, offering guests a broad portfolio of brands and experiences.
