Napa Valley Wine Train has introduced a new afternoon tea service featuring three handcrafted teas and a multi-course menu of classic accompaniments prepared by the train’s culinary team. Available every weekend in April and May, the three-hour journey through Napa Valley’s scenic landscape welcomes adults and guests 10 years and older. Guests may also enhance their experience with an optional caviar course.

“We created our new tea service as a relaxing way for guests to spend quality time with loved ones over a comforting cup of tea and flavorful treats in a luxurious setting,” said Nathan Davis, general manager of the Napa Valley Wine Train. The experience unfolds aboard the train’s restored Pullman railcars, appointed with Honduran mahogany paneling, brass accents, etched glass partitions and plush armchairs—an ideal backdrop for a traditional afternoon tea.
The service begins with a welcome glass of sparkling wine, or cider for guests under 21, served alongside a curated selection of cheeses. A classic tea cart will circulate through the railcar offering three specially selected teas served in ornate cups. The multi-course menu continues with a soup and side salad, followed by finger sandwiches, warm scones with traditional accompaniments, and strawberries with Chantilly cream. The meal concludes with petit fours and an assortment of miniature desserts.

For those who wish to elevate the tea, an optional caviar service is available for an additional $135 per two-top. The caviar course includes traditional accoutrements such as potato chips, mini blinis, egg, scallions and more. Guests may also purchase from a selection of more than 40 mostly local wines offered on board.
Check-in for the afternoon tea begins at 10:30 a.m., with boarding at 11:00 a.m. and departure at 11:30 a.m. The train covers a 36-mile route from Downtown Napa to St. Helena. Tickets are priced at $165 per person.
