Naladhu Private Island in the Maldives will reopen this November after a comprehensive six-month renovation. Located on South Malé Atoll, the resort is a 30-minute speedboat ride from the airport and has refreshed both its public spaces and accommodations to deliver a more refined island experience.
The redesign was led by New York–based designer Yuji Yamazaki, who introduced sleeker furnishings and a lighter, more contemporary color palette throughout the resort. Naladhu Private Island comprises 20 standalone houses, each appointed with a private pool. The accommodation categories are generous in size, with each house offering more than 900 square feet of living space.
The Beach House with Pool provides direct access to the beach and lagoon, ideal for guests who want immediate shoreline access. The Ocean House with Pool and Private Beach Cabana presents elevated ocean views and includes a dedicated cabana for relaxing by the water. For larger groups or families, the Two Bedroom Pool Residence is the resort’s top offering: it accommodates up to six guests and includes a private stretch of beach for exclusive use.

The resort has also refined its dining approach by expanding a no-menu dining concept, which allows guests to choose preferred dishes and cuisines at any time and in any location across the island. Culinary flexibility is a hallmark of the guest experience, supporting bespoke meal choices whether on the beach, in-villa, or at one of the resort’s dining venues.
Wellness offerings have been upgraded as well. The renewed spa now includes a double treatment room to accommodate couples’ therapies and shared treatments. Naladhu has added an on-site naturopath and a nutritional therapist to deliver tailored wellness programs that combine conventional spa treatments with personalized dietary and holistic guidance.
Environmental responsibility remains central to the resort’s operations. Naladhu reiterates its commitment to sustainability by partnering with Parley Air to address marine plastic pollution and by enforcing a ban on single-use plastics island-wide. These measures aim to reduce the resort’s environmental footprint while protecting the surrounding marine ecosystem.
Giles Selves, general manager of Naladhu Private Island, emphasized the importance of the renovation: “This substantial investment will ensure that Naladhu Private Island continues to be one of the most exclusive private islands in the Maldives. The resort already has a significant number of repeat guests, and I have no doubt the new-look Naladhu will entice many new travelers to experience the privacy, seclusion, and bespoke personalized service that it’s renowned for.”
With refreshed design, expanded dining flexibility, enhanced wellness services, and strengthened sustainability initiatives, Naladhu Private Island aims to offer returning and new guests a refreshed yet unmistakably private-Maldives experience when doors reopen in November.
