“Cleveland’s nationally recognized culinary scene is a hallmark of our visitor experience, and our chefs have earned the attention of the MICHELIN Guide,” said David Gilbert, president & CEO of Destination Cleveland. “This is an exciting opportunity that highlights the quality, creativity and authenticity of our culinary community — it’s time for the world to know about our vibrant food scene.”
The multicity MICHELIN Guide will also include Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh. The inaugural list of selected restaurants for these cities will be revealed in 2027.
“Cleveland’s food culture is authentic, generous, and deeply rooted in local ingredients, shaped by the diverse neighborhood traditions that live in people’s homes and in the city’s best independent spots,” said Douglas Katz, chef consultant at Dk70 Consulting and chef founder of Edgewater Hospitality. Katz also noted his partnerships with institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art and Cleveland Clinic, emphasizing the city’s culinary ties across community and care.

Research underscores the economic and cultural impact of MICHELIN recognition. According to the 2025 Ernst & Young “Beyond the MICHELIN Stars” study, 76 percent of travelers said they would extend their stay in a destination with MICHELIN-starred restaurants to experience a restaurant recommended by the MICHELIN Guide.
Cleveland’s culinary landscape is broad and vibrant, featuring strong international influences, a thriving craft brewery scene and the historic West Side Market. Local chefs draw on neighborhood traditions and regional ingredients to create a dining scene that is both rooted and forward-looking. MICHELIN’s inclusion of Cleveland acknowledges that diversity and the city’s growing reputation as a food destination.
