MIAMI
Miami, the sunny city on Florida’s southeastern Atlantic coast, is celebrated for its beaches, vibrant dining and nightlife, and world-class shopping. Beyond leisure, Miami is an influential hub for finance, culture, commerce, media, entertainment and the arts. Home to more than 400,000 residents, the city blends iconic Art Deco architecture, lively neighborhoods such as South Beach, and a multicultural atmosphere that shapes its dynamic character.
GETTING THERE
Miami International Airport (MIA) has recently benefited from significant improvements, including a new terminal and an additional runway that ease travel and connections. Plans for an intermodal center aim to streamline transfers to public transit. Taxi options include blue cabs serving the airport area and yellow cabs for other destinations; a typical 20-minute ride to South Beach costs around $32. The Airport Flyer provides a budget-friendly connection to Miami Beach, operating from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. every 30 minutes for approximately $2.35.
GETTING AROUND
Getting around Miami is straightforward with taxis, rental cars and an expanding public transit network. Metrorail spans roughly 22 miles across 22 stations, Metrobus runs more than 90 routes across the region, and the Metromover is a free 4.4-mile automated people-mover circling downtown. Fares are affordable: a single ride on the Easy Card is about $2, a daily pass is around $5, and a weekly pass is roughly $26. In Miami Beach, the South Beach Local offers frequent service every 12–20 minutes at a low cost, and the complimentary city trolley serves key loops around town.
