Marriott International Reinvents Luxury Hospitality Experience

Marriott International announced it is expanding its leadership in the luxury hospitality sector and will double its luxury portfolio following the merger with Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The combined portfolio now includes St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, and W Hotels alongside established names such as The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bulgari Hotels and Resorts, EDITION, and JW Marriott.

In 2017 Marriott planned to open nearly 30 luxury hotels and currently has roughly 180 luxury properties in development across 20 countries, with projects spanning from Iceland to Nepal and Cuba.

“From iconic destinations to undiscovered gems, the breadth and depth of our luxury portfolio uniquely position us to meet growing demand from affluent travelers,” said Tina Edmundson, global brand officer at Marriott International. “With luxury travel up significantly over the past five years, we see sustained opportunities for growth and have a dedicated luxury organization to cultivate and strengthen this diverse collection of eight luxury brands.”

Marriott’s luxury guests are multinational and cross-generational, frequently mobile and comfortable moving among the company’s brands for both business and leisure. These travelers seek authentic, destination-driven experiences and look to Marriott’s luxury portfolio to deliver them.
