Marquis Los Cabos Celebrates Royal Milestone with Grand Expansion

When a hotel reaches a milestone—joining an elite collection, earning top rankings on review sites, or celebrating a landmark anniversary—it’s an occasion to celebrate. This December, Marquis Los Cabos marked its 20th anniversary with a lively celebration that included Oaxacan cuisine prepared by a renowned chef, a variety show featuring the resort’s most popular entertainment elements, tastings of ultra-premium mezcal and tequilas, locally produced Los Cabos wines and an entrance led by vibrantly costumed acrobats.

After the festivities fade, guest expectations naturally rise. Delivering on those expectations is crucial for any property that aims to be seen as luxurious. Marquis Los Cabos already shows many strengths, showcased within striking architecture from a $10-million redesign by architect Jacobo Micha Mizrahi of Mexico City’s ARCHETONIC. That transformation is enriched by sculptures and paintings from notable Mexican artists, creating a refined, artful atmosphere throughout the resort.

Although the resort sits about 15–20 minutes from San Juan del Cabo, its nature-inspired aesthetic makes it an appealing retreat for guests who prefer to unwind on-site and enjoy views of the Sea of Cortés framed by desert coastline. Smooth stones, including touches of turquoise, are worked into walkways, walls, terraces and even suite headboards, forming a consistent decorative theme that connects the property. Semi-circular pools, curving deck chairs and a lobby that opens onto the sea further reinforce a sense of flow and cohesion.

The Sea of Cortés serves as the backdrop for all accommodations: 204 junior suites, 25 one-bedroom casitas, five master suites and a two-bedroom Marquis presidential suite. Higher-end suites include private plunge pools; interiors typically feature hydro-massage tubs, furnished terraces or balconies, complimentary minibars and Nespresso machines, flat-screen televisions and L’Occitane and Molton Brown toiletries—amenities that align with a luxury all-inclusive experience.

Marquis Los Cabos promotes an adults-only environment aimed at a more sophisticated atmosphere, distinct from Cabo’s louder party scenes. The resort’s 15,000-square-foot Marquis Spa helps achieve that tone, offering skilled therapists, post-treatment tea service and a menu of innovative massages and facials that blend premium international and locally sourced products for a thoughtful wellness experience.

Culinary highlights include fish and seafood preparations at Pergola and Dos Mares, which are among the resort’s gastronomic strengths. Staff across departments—from fitness instructors to the breakfast team at Vista Ballena and the front desk—frequently demonstrate genuine attentiveness to guest needs. Cocktails are consistently well made across bars, and tasting classes focused on wine, mezcal and tequila—led by enthusiastic staff—offer enjoyable ways to deepen appreciation for local and premium spirits. Suspiro Bar, in particular, provides well-crafted drinks and an excellent vantage point for sunsets over the Sea of Cortés.

Overall, Marquis Los Cabos pairs thoughtful design, attentive service and memorable dining and wellness offerings to create a refined adults-only escape on Mexico’s southern Baja peninsula.
