The Lygon Arms, a historic Cotswolds hotel housed in a 16th‑century coaching inn, has completed the final phase of an extensive refurbishment. The redesign preserves the building’s character while upgrading comfort, technology and dining to enhance the guest experience. The project delivers 86 newly styled guestrooms and suites, an upgraded spa and two fresh dining venues.
The guestrooms blend contemporary luxury with period details to respect the inn’s centuries‑old atmosphere. Interior touches nod to classic British elegance while integrating modern conveniences. Among the accommodations are nine newly introduced suites, several of which draw inspiration from notable historical visitors, including one themed in honour of King Charles I.
Dining at the hotel has been expanded with two new options. Lygon Bar & Grill focuses on seasonal produce and modern takes on traditional British dishes, presented in a relaxed yet refined setting. The Lygon Wine Bar offers Mediterranean‑inspired small plates paired with a curated selection of European and international wines, creating a convivial spot for pre‑dinner drinks or a lighter meal.
The spa has been refreshed to provide a comprehensive menu of treatments, combining contemporary wellbeing amenities with a tranquil ambience that complements the rural Cotswolds setting. Public and social spaces have also been reimagined with materials, colours and furnishings that reference the surrounding countryside, offering comfortable areas for relaxation and socialising throughout the hotel.
“It is with great pleasure that we debut the final phase of this monumental refurbishment of The Lygon Arms, that unveils an exciting new chapter in the property’s grand history,” said Graeme Nesbitt, general manager, Lygon Arms. “Our team has worked alongside the best talent to create a vision that celebrates and brings to life the property’s charm and long‑standing heritage, and above all, ensures our guest experience is truly memorable.”
The refurbishment balances respect for the inn’s historical roots with thoughtful contemporary updates, providing visitors with an experience that feels both authentic and fresh. From the carefully appointed rooms and themed suites to the expanded dining choices and revitalised spa, the changes are designed to appeal to guests seeking heritage, comfort and modern hospitality in the heart of the Cotswolds.
