Lighthouse Athens Hotel: Contemporary Urban Glamour Experience

Brown Hotels has opened Lighthouse Athens, a 220-room hotel featuring two restaurants, a nightclub, and a rooftop pool and bar. The rooftop offers 360-degree views across the Athenian skyline and overlooks several archaeological landmarks. Since opening, the property has become popular with visitors and locals and is one of the newest contemporary hotels in the city.

Lighthouse Athens expands Brown Hotels’ presence in Greece as the group’s fourth hotel in Athens. Situated on the revitalized Omonia Square, the new hotel sits next to Brown Acropol and DAVE Red Athens. Designed by Stavros Peppas Architects & Partners, the hotel’s modern aesthetic enhances the vibe of this trendy neighborhood.

Following the Lighthouse brand motto “work hard, play harder,” the hotel blends bold, playful design with practical amenities for both business and leisure travelers. The ground-floor restaurant and bar provides all-day dining with views over Omonia Square. The expansive rooftop includes a pool, sun loungers, Jacuzzi tubs and an open-air bar and restaurant—an ideal spot to relax after exploring Athens. Additional facilities include a wellness center, spa and event spaces.

The building, once home to the Marika Kotopouli theater, has been sensitively reimagined so original architectural elements coexist with contemporary interventions. The hotel’s character draws on Omonia’s theatrical and musical past, conveying a sense of bohemian glamour that references the district’s cultural history.

Interior design is eclectic, pairing raw, industrial materials with Baroque-inspired details and clean lines. Exposed concrete walls in the lobby contrast with black parquet floors, marble surfaces, gold metal accents and plush velvet seating. Guestrooms continue the mix with vintage wallpaper, mirrored surfaces and chandeliers, using a palette of teal green, mauve, black and gold to create a distinctive atmosphere.
