Arrival/Check-In: I arrived at the Kimpton Everly early one evening. Surprisingly, my Uber managed to outmaneuver L.A. traffic, which left me with a couple of free hours before dinner. Check-in was quick, and I wandered over to Hollywood Boulevard—just around the corner—to stroll among the stars and soak up the unseasonably warm weather. Sunny and 80 degrees in December was a welcome change for this Philly native.
Guest Quarters: I stayed in room 1012, conveniently close to the elevator. The moment I walked in, the view caught my attention: the Hollywood Hills felt like an extension of the room. To the right of the entryway was the bathroom, featuring a single sink set on a dark marble counter and a large shower stocked with Atelier Bloem shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that smelled delightful.
Beyond the bathroom on the right was a table and a well-stocked minibar. Opposite stood a freshly made California king bed with plush white pillows and a down comforter. Near the door, a good-sized closet held essentials—hangers, an iron and ironing board, plus a full-length mirror. I appreciated the extremely soft robe; as someone who notices those details, it made a difference. The room also included a large flat-screen TV, though I didn’t spend much time watching it.
Services/Amenities: The Kimpton continues the brand’s long-standing tradition of a complimentary daily wine hour, a custom started by Bill Kimpton in 1981 so guests have a communal place to unwind. It proved to be a pleasant way to relax and enjoy a quick drink before dinner.
The front desk was responsive and helpful throughout my stay. The hotel anticipates many small needs: a list in the bathroom detailed items available on request, such as a cellphone charger, lip balm, curling and straightening irons, apparel tape, a makeup mirror, stain-removing wipes, TSA-approved liquid bags, razors, tweezers, and more. Having access to those items without a trip to a store was convenient. One standout feature was the rooftop pool bar—a bright, airy spot ideal for taking a laptop, catching up on email, or simply savoring the California sun.
