Bringing its signature approach to luxury in Indonesia, Kempinski is set to open The Apurva Kempinski Bali in the last quarter of 2018. Perched on a Nusa Dua cliff above Bali’s southern beaches, the resort was designed by award-winning architect Budiman Hendropurnomo of Denton Corker Marshall with interiors by Rudy Dodo of Trivium Design Group. The project draws heavily on traditional Balinese architecture, embracing Indonesian aesthetics and locally sourced materials throughout.
“We are excited to welcome The Apurva Kempinski Bali and add this iconic property to our hotel portfolio,” says Michael Henssler, Chief Operating Officer Asia for Kempinski Hotels and member of the Management Board. “From its distinctive architecture to its thoughtfully curated interiors, The Apurva Kempinski Bali will feel like a majestic open‑air theatre where guests can discover the charms of this extraordinary island.”

The name apurva, derived from Sanskrit, means “unique” or “magnificent,” a fitting description for the resort’s features. The property offers 475 elegant guestrooms, suites and private villas, many appointed with private plunge pools. In fact, roughly 60 percent of the accommodations include their own plunge pool, and furnishings have been developed through careful research and collaboration with local craftsmen.
Dining options include five distinctive venues covering a range of culinary styles, plus a dedicated Cigar & Shisha Lounge for relaxed evenings. Leisure facilities are wide-ranging: two swimming pools (including a children’s pool), a family club, a spa and a fitness center designed to maximize ocean views. These amenities are arranged to serve both families and couples seeking a tranquil, high-end stay.
Combining strong local character with international standards of service, The Apurva Kempinski Bali aims to offer an immersive Balinese experience without compromising on contemporary luxury. The resort’s architectural language and material palette celebrate Indonesian craftsmanship, while public spaces and private retreats are composed to highlight the coastal panorama and tropical setting.
Opening in late 2018, The Apurva Kempinski Bali represents Kempinski’s continued expansion in the region and reinforces its commitment to properties that reflect their destination’s culture and landscape. Guests can expect a resort that balances grand design with attentive hospitality, delivering both spectacular views and thoughtfully curated experiences.
