Japan Airlines Resumes Nonstop Flights Between Tokyo and Dallas/Fort Worth

Japan Airlines will resume service between Tokyo–Narita (NRT) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) beginning Nov. 30, restoring a direct trans-Pacific link. Partner and oneworld member American Airlines will place its code on the route. Japan Airlines will operate the service with a Boeing 787-8 equipped with its latest cabin product in a three-class layout, marketed as JAL SKY SUITE 787 (SS8).

Yoshiharu Ueki, president of Japan Airlines, said the restart of DFW service marks the airline’s eighth gateway in North America and the fourth U.S. launch in just over three years. He noted that operating the efficient Dreamliner and expanding collaboration with American Airlines will strengthen commercial and cultural ties for travelers on both sides of the Pacific.

With this return, the JAL–American joint business will offer 18 weekly roundtrips between NRT and DFW. The renewed schedule delivers broad connectivity: passengers arriving in Dallas/Fort Worth on the JAL flight can connect onward via American’s extensive DFW hub to more than 200 destinations across North, Central and South America.

Customers transiting DFW will also gain access to International-to-International baggage transfer (subject to government approval). When available, this service allows travelers who check baggage through to a final destination outside the United States to avoid claiming and rechecking luggage at DFW, simplifying transfers and reducing time in the terminal.

The NRT–DFW service will be flown using aircraft fitted with Japan Airlines’ recent cabin enhancements, which include refreshed seating, upgraded in-flight amenities and a three-class configuration designed to improve comfort on long-haul routes. These features aim to meet the expectations of both leisure and business travelers making trans-Pacific crossings.

By reinstating the route, Japan Airlines expands its North American footprint and reinforces the trans-Pacific network offered by its joint business with American Airlines. The combined schedule and partner connections create more options and smoother connections for passengers traveling between Tokyo and destinations across the Americas.
