InterContinental Los Angeles Century City Hotel — Luxury Stay & Amenities

Arrival/Check-In: Having visited the InterContinental Century City before, I knew what to expect when my car pulled up. Bell staff quickly assisted with luggage and guided me to the front desk. Check-in was efficient with no wait, and I was given my key and directions to the elevators. Late in the afternoon the lobby was lively, with business travelers enjoying cocktails at the bar and gathering before evening plans.

Guest Quarters: My suite on the 14th floor opened into a comfortable living area with a sofa and chairs facing a large flat-screen TV. A desk at the far end faced inward, convenient for catching the news while preparing for meetings. Floor-to-ceiling curtains opened onto a balcony with two chairs. I especially liked that the bathroom could be accessed directly from the living room — a practical touch when hosting a quick meeting with colleagues.

The bathroom, which could also be reached from the bedroom, offered a separate shower and bathtub. The vanity featured a single sink and a large mirror. The complimentary bath amenities arrived in generous 3.4-ounce bottles — body lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash — all pleasantly scented. A toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and shaving cream were also provided, thoughtful extras often overlooked even at higher-end hotels.

The bedroom included a large bed dressed in a single white duvet, a style I appreciate for its clean, European look. The bed faced another large TV and a dresser, providing a comfortable and uncluttered sleeping space.

Setting up a workspace revealed a couple of drawbacks: power outlets by the bed and desk were somewhat sparse and not immediately obvious. Also, in-room WiFi was not complimentary, though complimentary access was available in the lobby.

Services/Amenities: The hotel’s dining options include the Park Grill, the property’s fine-dining restaurant featuring Executive Chef Jonathon Wood’s globally influenced California cuisine. I dined there for breakfast and noticed the restaurant filled with a lively dinner crowd on my passes by.

I did not visit the spa this stay, but I glanced at it while heading to the pool and fitness center. Hollywood Fitness is one of the stronger hotel gyms I’ve encountered, with modern equipment and views over the large outdoor pool, making it an enjoyable place for a workout.

The Experience: This hotel caters well to business travelers. The thoughtful room layout, pleasing design touches and practical amenities made it easy to settle in for an extended stay. The property blends a professional atmosphere with comfortable, well-equipped rooms, creating a satisfying stay for meetings or longer visits.
