Trails of Indochina, a company specializing in curated small‑group tours that aim to create memorable, transformative travel experiences, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2019 with special departures: a March journey to Thailand and Myanmar and an October itinerary through Vietnam and Cambodia, each personally escorted by founder John Tue Nguyen.
The company’s redesigned interactive website allows travelers to build bespoke journeys through a clear, user-friendly process. Visitors start by choosing one of ten themed approaches—Active, Art & Handicraft, Culture & History, Culinary, Family, Philanthropy, Photography, Romance, Slow Journey, or Wellness—so each trip can be tailored to personal interests and travel styles.

Beyond themes, travelers can further customize their experience by choosing a small group journey limited to ten guests or selecting an expert‑led tour guided by specialists across a range of fields. Local, immersive experiences are central to the itineraries: guests might cruise the River of Kings with a Thai historian, explore Saigon’s contemporary art scene behind the scenes, hear first‑hand accounts from a survivor of the Pol Pot era, or prepare traditional Vietnamese dishes in the home of former U.S. Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.
The company’s Concierge & Assistance team provides VIP services and crafts personalized solutions for individual travel needs, assisting with arrangements and special requests to ensure a seamless trip. Customized trips typically span seven to fourteen nights and cover destinations across Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and neighboring countries. Prices start at $3,500 per person, not including international airfare.
