Fashion-forward and contemporary, Hyatt Herald Square is a notable addition to New York City’s historic Herald Square neighborhood, reflecting the area’s publishing heritage and close ties to the Fashion District.
“Hyatt Herald Square is ideally located in the center of the lively Herald Square neighborhood,” said Candice Cancino, general manager, Hyatt Herald Square. “The hotel captures the spirit of this district and inspires guests to explore the best that the area has to offer. We are excited to welcome our first and future guests.”
Designers Paul Vega and Vennie Lau of VLDG Inc. drew on Herald Square’s history when developing the style and color palette for the hotel’s 122 guest rooms. The result is a carefully curated environment that nods to the location’s past while feeling modern and inviting. The lobby showcases works by nine local artists and contains several distinct communal areas: an espresso bar with a café counter, a market offering grab-and-go snacks, and a library-themed lounge that doubles as a bar and private dining space, complete with comfortable seating and a bookshelf for a relaxed atmosphere.
Pops of hot pink—an homage to the neighborhood’s fashion roots—appear against a soothing natural palette and are balanced by dark-wood furnishings. The design blends fashion and publishing motifs throughout guest rooms, where in-room letterpress blocks display quotes from notable designers. The hotel also features a rooftop lounge, Up on 20, offering striking views of the Midtown skyline, including the Empire State Building and the Freedom Tower.
Thoughtful amenities and intentional design choices create a hospitable base for both leisure and business travelers. The communal areas foster social interaction and provide flexible spaces for quick meetings, casual work sessions, or quiet moments with a cup of coffee. Local art installations and curated décor give the property a strong sense of place, tying the guest experience to the cultural fabric of Herald Square.
With its central location, carefully considered design, and varied public spaces, the hotel aims to be a comfortable urban retreat that encourages guests to explore nearby attractions, shopping, and dining. Whether visiting for a short stay or an extended trip, guests can expect a blend of modern style and neighborhood character that reflects the vibrant energy of this part of Manhattan.
