Hyatt is reaching a new milestone in Portugal with the introduction of its Hyatt Regency brand in Lisbon. The Hyatt Regency Lisbon, due to open in 2020, will feature 200 guest rooms and apartments in a prime waterfront location on the Tejo River. Positioned between Rua Guerra Junqueiro and Avenida da Índia, the hotel will be a short drive from Lisbon’s historic center and within easy reach of major attractions, including the city’s two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery.
The hotel’s plans include a spa and a swimming pool, as well as a rooftop bar offering panoramic river views. Guests will also enjoy landscaped courtyard and garden areas, designed to provide restful outdoor space in the heart of the riverside quarter.
“We are delighted by the announcement of plans for the first Hyatt hotel in Portugal, as Lisbon is one of Europe’s leading cities for overnight stays and has quickly established itself as a prime destination not only for leisure travelers but also for larger conventions and events,” said Nuno Galvão-Pinto, regional vice president of development for Hyatt. “We look forward to working with United Investments Portugal on this exciting project in Lisbon. This is an important step for Hyatt as we expand our brand presence throughout Portugal.”
“We are thrilled to be working with Hyatt on our first development in Lisbon in a premier riverside location in one of the world’s leading cities. With its warm climate, rich culture, historic landmarks, renowned gastronomy and nearby beaches, Lisbon truly has it all,” added Carlos Leal, general manager of United Investments Portugal.
