Passengers can now purchase empty adjacent economy seats on select China Southern flights departing from Guangzhou at a discounted rate, ensuring they will not be seated next to another traveler.
Branded One Passenger More Seats, the program lets travelers buy up to three additional economy seats on the same reservation. Prices range from $37.20 to $253, depending on flight length and availability.
These rates represent a significant discount compared with the full price of a standard economy ticket. For example, a full-fare economy ticket on the Guangzhou (CAN)–New York (JFK) route typically costs about $667, making the add-on seats far cheaper than buying separate fares.
Purchases of extra seats under this program must be made in person at the airport check-in counter and are only available after all passengers on the flight have checked in. Because availability is limited and offered only at the airport, passengers who require guaranteed additional space are advised to book and pay for the extra seats when they first purchase their tickets rather than relying on last-minute availability.
China Southern says it plans to expand One Passenger More Seats to flights departing from Beijing and Shanghai in the future, widening options for travelers who prefer extra personal space in economy class.
