Hilton Reveals Major Renovation Plans for Signature Hotels

New York Hilton Midtown has completed the first phase of a multi-year guestroom renovation program, unveiling refurbished executive-level rooms and suites. The initial phase modernized 187 guestrooms and 41 suites within the hotel’s 1,985-room inventory, setting the tone for further upgrades throughout the property.

Dallas-based interior design firm Looney & Associates selected a calming palette of blues and greys to create a welcoming, restful environment in the updated guestrooms. Design accents such as oil-rubbed bronze fittings and natural oak details frame views of Manhattan while adding warmth and texture. Furnishings include a plush velvet lounge chair, wool drapery, dimmable lamps, an oversized wall clock and a cantilevered work surface for a functional yet elegant layout.

Technology and convenience were priorities in the renovation. Designers added accessible power outlets at the desk and bedside, installed a 55-inch flat-screen television and incorporated flexible power pucks to support guests’ devices. The property also upgraded its cabling infrastructure to support a stronger WiFi network, improving connectivity throughout the hotel.

Public spaces and food-and-beverage offerings have seen recent improvements as well. The hotel refreshed its lobby area to complement the guestroom redesign and opened the first Herb N’ Kitchen, an upscale restaurant and culinary market designed to serve both guests and local visitors.

Planned future phases of the renovation will focus on larger event and meeting spaces, including upgrades to the Grand Ballroom as well as the Sutton Hall and Nassau ballroom complexes. The hotel expects to complete full refurbishment of all guestrooms by 2016, continuing to modernize amenities and design across the property.

The property marked its 50th anniversary in 2013 and updated its name from Hilton New York to New York Hilton Midtown as part of its ongoing evolution.
