On Friday, April 12, the Purple Parrot Cafe will host its Ninth Annual Wine Festival at the historic Hattiesburg Train Depot. The event attracts winemakers and industry professionals from across the globe, including representatives from California’s Fiddlehead Cellars, Chile’s Aresti Winery, Germany’s Dr. Hermann Wines, Spain’s Celler Malondro, and New Zealand’s Isabel Estate.
The venue is an ideal match for this celebration of wine. The Purple Parrot Cafe is known for an extensive 1,000-label wine list and has earned recognition from Wine Spectator. Many of the cafe’s servers are accredited sommeliers, ensuring knowledgeable guidance for guests throughout the festival. This year’s festival supports the nonprofit Extra Table, founded by the cafe’s owner, chef, and author Robert St. John, which works to address hunger issues nationally.
Tickets are $85 and include unlimited tastings from a curated selection of 100 labels. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Extra Table to further its mission of alleviating food insecurity.
