Hainan Airlines Launches New Nonstop U.S.–China Flights

As part of a major expansion across North America, China’s Hainan Airlines is launching three new nonstop routes between the United States and China. New service from Silicon Valley’s Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport to Beijing begins on June 15. Flights connecting Boston Logan International Airport with Shanghai Pudong will start June 20, and nonstop service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Shanghai Pudong will commence June 22.

Hainan Airlines will deploy two-class Boeing 787 Dreamliners on the San Jose–Beijing route, operating five times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with early afternoon departures. The Boston–Shanghai route will be served three times a week — Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday — with afternoon departure times. For Seattle–Shanghai, the carrier will use a two-class Airbus A330-200 and operate four days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, offering midday departures.

In addition to the new routes, Hainan will increase frequency on its existing Beijing services to Boston, Seattle and Chicago to daily operations beginning May 1. The airline also currently offers daily nonstop service between Toronto, Canada and Beijing.

The new schedule expansion aims to provide more convenient nonstop travel options between major U.S. gateway cities and China, catering to business and leisure travelers alike. Increased frequencies and varied departure times are intended to improve connectivity and offer passengers more choices when planning transpacific trips.

Passengers should verify schedules and availability directly with Hainan Airlines or their travel provider, as flight times and frequencies may change seasonally or due to operational considerations.
