The Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez will reopen next spring as Hotel Martinez, joining the Hyatt Unbound Collection. As the second Unbound property in Europe—alongside Hotel du Louvre in Paris—the property expands Hyatt’s portfolio of distinctive, locally rooted hotels.
Other Unbound Collection properties around the world include The Confidante Miami Beach; The Driskill in Austin, Texas; The Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona; and Carmelo Resort & Spa in Uruguay.
Originally an aristocratic residence, the Hotel Martinez first opened in 1929 as the largest hotel on the French Riviera. Over the decades it has become a modern landmark, offering 409 guestrooms and suites with views across the Bay of Cannes and the Mediterranean Sea.
Dining at the hotel highlights regional cuisine and refined dining experiences. The property is home to the Michelin-starred La Palme d’Or and also offers a relaxed garden restaurant. During warmer months guests can dine at a seasonal restaurant on the hotel’s private beach.
“Hotel Martinez will be a great addition to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt due to its distinct characteristics and personality. The hotel is iconic and its history is truly incredible — all of which is an ideal brand fit,” said Alessandro Cresta, general manager, Hotel Martinez. He noted that renovations will emphasize preserving and enhancing the original architectural details while introducing a contemporary, refreshed design.
The relaunch under the Unbound Collection banner aims to celebrate the hotel’s heritage while delivering modern comforts and personalized service. With its prime beachfront location, storied past and elevated dining options, Hotel Martinez is positioned to attract both leisure travelers and those seeking an iconic Cannes experience.
As reopening approaches next spring, guests and observers can expect updated interiors that respect the building’s original character, along with curated amenities and culinary offerings that reflect the region’s culture and tastes.
