Grand Fiesta Americana Chapultepec Hotel — Luxury Stay in Mexico City

Arrival/Check-In: I arrived in Mexico City on a sunny but brisk Sunday afternoon. The Grand Fiesta Americana Chapultepec offers an airport car service for about 200 pesos, which is worth the extra cost for convenience. Uber also operates throughout the city and served as a reliable, often cheaper alternative during my stay.

The trip from the airport took under 45 minutes. The bellman guided me into a cool marble lobby with a two-story ceiling, spiral staircase and a small coffee bar. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and my room was ready despite my early arrival.

Guest Quarters: My deluxe room was on a lower floor but still provided a partial view of Chapultepec Castle through a large floor-to-ceiling window. Natural light filled the room and brightened a club chair with an ottoman—an ideal spot for catching up on emails. The room featured a substantial desk with an outlet built into the desk lamp, handy for charging devices. The wall-mounted television sat above the minibar, which was stocked with bottled water.

The king-size bed was comfortable and the room’s heating system kept the space quiet and warm for a restful night. The bathroom was spacious, with generous lighting and a wide marble vanity that made it easy to spread out toiletries. L’Occitane amenities and bottled water were replenished twice daily. The tub/shower combination provided strong hot water and good pressure. In the hallway, a closet with full-length mirrored doors contained a large safe and a plush robe.

Services/Amenities: I spent a fair amount of time at the hotel’s mezzanine-level restaurant. It operates as a full-service restaurant for lunch and dinner, and I found its tortilla soup outstanding—creamy, balanced and slightly spicy. The same dish is available via room service. The restaurant also functions as a popular spot for business travelers; I held a casual meeting during a busy breakfast buffet service and found the atmosphere lively yet conducive to conversation.

The hotel offers a 24-hour gym, but given its prime location on Paseo de la Reforma—just a block from Chapultepec Park and several museums—I recommend taking time to walk outside when the weather allows. The surrounding area is lively, with tourists, families, street vendors and food carts, and generally feels safe during daylight hours; exercise caution around traffic. Nearby neighborhoods such as Condesa and Polanco are within easy reach and provide a wealth of boutiques, cafés and restaurants to explore.

Top Takeaways:

◆ Exceptional location for both business and sightseeing, with easy access to museums, parks and dining.

◆ Don’t miss the breakfast buffet and the standout tortilla soup at the restaurant.

◆ Staff are friendly and helpful, ready to provide directions, local recommendations and transportation arrangements.
