Gleneagles to Host New PGA International Pro-Am Tournament

The new Pro-Am tournament for 2016 will be held at The Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, next summer, giving amateur golfers from around the world the chance to play the hotel’s celebrated championship courses and compete for prizes.

The Gleneagles International Pro-Am will take place July 5–8, 2016, across The King’s, Queen’s and PGA Centenary Courses. Teams of four — three amateurs and one PGA Professional — will compete for a total prize fund of approximately $26,800.

“We’re delighted to introduce this event to the 2016 golfing calendar,” said Gary Silcock, director of golf at The Gleneagles Hotel. “Participants will play two of James Braid’s classic layouts — The King’s and Queen’s — along with the PGA Centenary Course, which hosted the Ryder Cup Matches in 2014. After the tournament, players can enjoy warm Scottish hospitality at one of the UK’s most iconic luxury hotels.”

Gleneagles’ central location in Scotland makes it an ideal base for international visitors who want to combine competitive golf with sightseeing, whisky distillery tours and visits to historic attractions. The event’s timing, the week before The Open at Troon, also makes it an attractive option for those planning a wider golf itinerary.

Entry for a team of four is approximately $11,200 and includes four nights’ accommodation per player; a drinks reception and welcome dinner; packed lunches on tournament days; four rounds of golf; and a celebration dinner with prize presentation.

Set on 850 acres of Perthshire countryside, The Gleneagles Hotel offers 232 luxury guestrooms and suites, a wide range of outdoor activities, an award-winning Spa by ESPA and four restaurants, all within about an hour’s drive of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
