Fringetree Opens First Location in Washington, DC

After a $17 million renovation, The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center has introduced its redesigned restaurant and lounge, Fringetree. This urban dining destination blends classic dishes with modern twists inspired by Westin’s SuperFoodsRX program, offering a menu focused on flavorful, nutrient-rich ingredients. A dedicated grab-and-go counter adjacent to the restaurant provides Starbucks coffee, morning items and light bites for guests on the move.

The restaurant’s name, Fringetree, is drawn from a flowering plant native to the northeastern United States and also found in the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. Under the direction of Executive Chef Felix Nunes, the kitchen emphasizes healthful preparations that support wellbeing and longevity, incorporating fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Many dishes feature SuperFoodsRX ingredients, selected for their high levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Starters on the menu include garlic shrimp, cream of crab soup, tuna tacos, frito misto and a house-style macaroni and cheese. Main courses highlight a selection of seafood such as Atlantic salmon, lump crab cakes, seared scallops and halibut, while also offering pizzas, sandwiches and composed salads. Desserts round out the menu with thoughtfully crafted sweets.

Beverage offerings are designed to complement the food, with a curated wine list, local draft beers and inventive artisan cocktails created to balance and enhance the flavors of the menu. The overall experience at Fringetree combines approachable comfort food with contemporary, health-forward options in a relaxed urban setting.
