Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon — Luxury Stay in Central Lisbon

Arrival/Check-In: The hotel sits in the heart of the city, perched atop one of the seven hills and offering sweeping views. The lobby’s grand centerpiece—a hanging display of orchids and exotic flowers—was arresting. I found myself standing and admiring it for several minutes before heading to my room.

Guest Quarters: A short elevator ride delivered me to my floor. When I entered the room, a subtle, luxurious scent welcomed me and I took a moment to settle in. Drawing back the curtains revealed a striking bird’s-eye view through expansive windows. I left the curtains open until nightfall so I could enjoy the panorama; the layout provided privacy and I never felt overlooked.

Conveniently placed outlets beside the king-sized bed made it easy to work from bed, with room to charge a laptop, tablet and two phones at once.

Services/Amenities: As expected from a five-star property, the in-room amenities were excellent: soft terry robes, slippers and high-quality toiletries (L’Occitane among them). I did regret not requesting a humidifier—these are available on request—since frequent travel sometimes leaves me congested and a humidifier would have helped reduce discomfort.

The on-site spa offers refined treatments rooted in local tradition. I had a Portuguese body scrub using regional ingredients that was delightful, and the following massage was so restorative I dozed off multiple times. It was a thoroughly blissful experience.

The Experience: The attentive service that defines Four Seasons was evident before I even arrived. For example, during an earlier day in Lisbon I discovered a problem with a high heel: one heel pad had come off and the shoe was becoming damaged from walking on cobblestones. I contacted my hotel liaison, Vasco, to ask if a cobbler was available. The issue was resolved with same-day delivery—an efficient and thoughtful solution. Vasco also arranged a sightseeing tour for the days before check-in, a proactive gesture I appreciated even though heavy rain forced the tours to be canceled. Small acts like these demonstrate why the hotel’s service remains outstanding.

Overall, the combination of prime location, elegant public spaces, comfortable rooms and proactive staff makes this hotel a memorable base for exploring Lisbon. I look forward to returning.
