Arrival/Check-In: I arrived at the Kimpton Alexis in Seattle around noon and was greeted by friendly staff. The art-filled entrance caught my eye, and a chalkboard listing the names of dogs staying at the hotel beside bowls of treats and water added a charming touch. I wanted to drop off my bags before spending the day sightseeing, and the Alexis accommodated me with an early check-in. Within minutes I left my luggage in the room, changed, and headed out to explore Seattle.
Guest Quarters: My room was on the fourth floor, just down the hall from the elevator. The space felt elegant and calming, with tasteful decor that struck a balance between charm and refinement. On the desk I found a handwritten welcome note, a bottle of red wine, chocolates, and a Seattle porcelain coaster—small gestures that immediately felt welcoming. The room featured Frette linens, a fully stocked minibar with Bliss products and items from Dollar Shave Club, and a comfortable sitting area opposite the bed framed by a Rococo mirror and vibrant red and blue artwork. An Amazon Echo Dot sat on the desk for convenience. From the moment I walked in, it was clear this stay would be comfortable and relaxing.
The bathroom was spacious, modern, and spotless, with plenty of counter space. The shower was stocked with subtly fragrant Atelier Bloem amenities that made me glad I hadn’t brought my own toiletries. The bath was so inviting I took the time to relax there for an hour on each of the two nights I stayed.
Although the room didn’t offer an expansive scenic view, I appreciated the brick facade of the neighboring building, the quiet neighborhood, and the sound of Seattle raindrops on the window.
Services/Amenities: The hotel provided complimentary coffee each morning, which was convenient before heading out to meetings. There was also a daily complimentary happy hour from 5–6 p.m., a nice way to end a busy day. For dinner on my second night I ate at The Bookstore Bar and Café. I asked the chef to serve his favorite dishes and enjoyed a glass of Prosecco while sampling fresh oysters, beef tartare, steak frites, and a seared salmon that quickly became my favorite. I finished the meal with a cardamom-rose crème brûlée—an elegant dessert to round out a memorable dinner.
While I didn’t make time for a workout, I checked out the fitness center and was impressed by its offerings: a rock climbing wall, a Peloton bike, gymnastic rings, and monkey bars. The facility also features a mural of the Seattle skyline, which would make a workout more engaging.
