Etihad Airways will upgrade its service between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport beginning June 1, 2017, in response to strong traveler demand. The route will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A380, replacing the current Boeing 777-300ER. The A380 brings Etihad’s premium onboard products, including The Residence and First Apartment cabins, to the New York–Abu Dhabi link.
Featuring a three-room suite and dedicated butler service, The Residence also includes access to chauffeur transfers to the airport and an onboard shower room, offering a highly private and luxurious travel experience. The nine First Apartments provide private living areas that convert into fully flat beds to maximize comfort. The aircraft also includes 70 Business Studios and 415 economy seats, delivering a full range of cabin classes to suit different traveler needs.
Peter Baumgartner, CEO of Etihad Airways, said the airline is responding to nearly a decade of strong interest on the Abu Dhabi–New York route by expanding the product on offer. He emphasized the carrier’s ongoing commitment to redefining travel by delivering outstanding comfort, luxury and hospitality both on the ground and in the air across all classes of service.
This fall marks Etihad’s 10th anniversary of service between Abu Dhabi and New York. With the A380 change, Etihad will operate two A380 flights daily between the two cities. The Abu Dhabi departures are scheduled at 3:35 a.m. and 10:10 a.m., while flights from New York depart at 3:00 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., providing passengers with multiple timing options.
