Etihad Airways is expanding its route network with a new service to Venice Marco Polo Airport. The flight will begin on October 30 and will be operated using an Airbus A319 configured with 16 business class seats and 90 economy seats.
The new Venice link strengthens Etihad’s presence in Italy and complements the airline’s existing partnership with Alitalia. Together the carriers provide 35 weekly services between the UAE and Italy, including twice-daily flights to Rome (FCO) and Milan (MXP). Passengers flying via Abu Dhabi can connect onward to Etihad’s long-haul routes, including popular services to Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, as well as numerous destinations across the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
Etihad introduced flights to Milan in 2007 and later added a Rome connection in 2014. Kevin Knight, Etihad’s Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, said the Venice service reinforces an already well-traveled corridor between Italy and Abu Dhabi and enhances onward connectivity across Etihad’s expanding global network. He noted that the partnership with Alitalia also supports the strong trade relationship between Italy and the UAE.
The A319 aircraft chosen for the Venice route provides a balanced capacity for regional and medium-haul demand, offering a premium cabin option alongside economy seating. With the addition of Venice, passengers from northeastern Italy gain improved access to Etihad’s hub in Abu Dhabi, making international connections more convenient.
This route expansion is part of Etihad’s broader strategy to grow its European footprint while leveraging strategic partnerships. By increasing frequency and adding destinations, the airline aims to deliver more travel options for leisure and business travelers, while supporting commerce and tourism flows between Italy and the UAE.
