To expand its long-haul network and increase route flexibility from Addis Ababa (ADD), Ethiopian Airlines has placed an order for six Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. The airline finalized the agreement with Boeing at the 51st International Paris Air Show earlier this month.
“As part of our Vision 2025 strategic roadmap and our fleet modernization and expansion program, we will continue to invest in technologically advanced, modern aircraft,” said Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines. “These new additions will not only deliver competitive operating costs, but also enhance the overall travel experience for our customers. The Boeing 787 has earned strong customer approval, and we remain committed to meeting passenger preferences.”
The incoming Dreamliners will complement Ethiopian’s current fleet of 13 Boeing 787s already in service. As the first African carrier to operate the 787, Ethiopian maintains an all-Boeing passenger fleet that includes 737s, 757s, 767s, 777s and 787s, supporting its position as a leading long-haul operator from Addis Ababa.
