Dusit International, a leading hotel and property developer in Thailand, reopened its flagship property, Dusit Thani Bangkok, in late September 2024. The hotel was rebuilt from the ground up as part of the $1.4 billion Dusit Central Park mixed-use development.
The original Dusit Thani Bangkok had a 54-year history in Bangkok, and the new property reasserts the brand’s standard for luxury hospitality. Aimed at upscale travelers, the refreshed hotel seeks to combine modern innovations in service and design with the cherished legacy of the original landmark.
The new hotel offers 257 guestrooms, down from the previous 517 to prioritize space and comfort. Designed by André Fu Studio, the rooms merge traditional elegance with contemporary luxury and frame expansive views of Lumpini Park. Every guestroom faces the park and includes a cantilevered window seat that provides sweeping panoramas of the city.

“For over five decades, the original Dusit Thani Bangkok was a beloved landmark and an ambassador of Thai hospitality,” said Suphajee Suthumpun, group CEO of Dusit International. “Sustainability remains central to Dusit, and this commitment is reflected throughout the new hotel’s design and operations.”
Architects 49 Limited and Office for Metropolitan Architecture led the hotel’s architectural design, while André Fu Studio crafted the interiors. The design pays homage to the original property by blending the hotel’s heritage with contemporary Thai aesthetics—using warm tones and traditional motifs to reinterpret classic Thai artistry and craftsmanship.
The Heritage Floor, created by Thai firm P49DEESIGN, celebrates the hotel’s history with exclusive artwork by local artists inspired by the property’s legacy. The iconic golden spire, a well-known feature of the original hotel, has been reintroduced in a new, larger form. Elements from the former Benjarong Thai Restaurant, including paintings, murals and preserved main pillars, were carefully removed and reinstalled in the new main lobby. The original carved teak ceiling was also meticulously reassembled and incorporated into the design.

Beyond aesthetic decisions, the hotel integrates Feng Shui principles to promote a balanced, holistic guest experience. “We aimed to meld world-class design with the hotel’s legacy, combining ancient Feng Shui teachings about wind and water with modern architecture,” said Somkiat Lo-chindapong, deputy managing director at Architects 49 Limited. The building’s placement within Dusit Central Park and the design of large bay windows with gold finishes were guided by this philosophy to maximize park views and natural harmony.
Dusit Thani Bangkok introduces an urban wellness concept that extends beyond a conventional spa. The property features 10 restaurants and bars developed with notable chefs and mixologists, offering diverse culinary and social experiences. For conferences and events, the hotel provides over 54,000 square feet of dedicated meeting and event space to accommodate business travelers and planners.
The hotel is the centerpiece of Dusit Central Park, a broader mixed-use development that will include ultra-luxury residences (Dusit Residences and Dusit Parkside), a modern office tower, a high-end retail center, and a 120,000 square-foot Roof Park. These additional components are scheduled to open progressively through 2025.
