Cunard has revealed a striking new cutaway illustration of its upcoming ship, Queen Anne, which celebrates the cruise line’s long heritage and is scheduled to debut in 2024. The vivid cutaway captures the playful luxury guests can expect aboard the newest addition to the fleet.

Unveiled to mark Cunard’s 183rd birthday, the detailed artwork was created in the style of the company’s iconic 1920s advertising posters and offers an engaging look inside the ship’s public spaces and venues. Artist Dominik Bulka hand-sketched every element before composing the scenes into a cohesive digital cutaway, producing a piece that blends nostalgic design with modern detail.
The illustration highlights many signature Cunard locations, from the soaring Grand Lobby to the classic Golden Lion pub. It also introduces new concepts exclusive to Queen Anne, including a dramatic show bar inspired by historic electric light installations known as the Bright Lights Society. The piece points out where each major venue will sit within the ship, providing a helpful, entertaining guide for future guests.
Hidden throughout the cutaway are playful references to Cunard lore. On Deck One, for example, two bellhops are shown feeding a hippo in a pool — a whimsical nod to a real-life 1963 voyage when a young hippopotamus named Jimmy traveled from Naples to Chester Zoo aboard Pavia and required frequent cooling. Small surreal touches like flying bellhops and other unusual scenes emphasize the quirky, unexpected moments Cunard likes to celebrate.

The cutaway also weaves notable figures into the design, featuring familiar faces from Cunard’s past such as David Bowie and Nelson Mandela, alongside founder Sir Samuel Cunard. These inclusions link the line’s storied history with the contemporary personality of Queen Anne.
With this artistic release, Cunard draws on its heritage to shape the next phase of its story. The image champions character and surprise, illustrating the immersive, memorable experiences available on board while mapping out the ship’s major public spaces so prospective guests can begin to envision life aboard Queen Anne.
A limited run of cutaway posters will be produced ahead of Queen Anne’s maiden voyage on May 3, 2024, offering collectors and Cunard enthusiasts a keepsake of the ship’s first chapter.

“We are incredibly excited about the launch of Queen Anne, and this magnificent cutaway image brilliantly encapsulates the essence of playful luxury that guests will experience on board our newest ship,” said Matt Gleaves, Vice President, Commercial, Cunard North America. “Cunard guests enjoy exclusive moments aboard our fleet of Queens, and this artwork highlights the unique touches that make our voyages special. From posting mail in the middle of the Atlantic to admiring artwork etched by royalty, Cunard offers unforgettable experiences.”
Currently, Cunard operates three ships — Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria — and the addition of Queen Anne is a key part of the company’s broader plans for growth. When Queen Anne enters service, Cunard will return to operating four ships simultaneously for the first time since 1999, marking a significant milestone in the line’s modern era.
