A new refuge has opened in Taos, New Mexico: Hotel Willa, the newest entry in Casetta’s collection of boutique hotels and the brand’s first property in the American Southwest. Located on the edge of the Downtown Taos Historic District, this 50-room retreat transforms a 1960s adobe-style motor lodge into a modern, regionally rooted sanctuary.

Framed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Hotel Willa offers a calm, earth-toned aesthetic that blends minimalism with layered cultural storytelling. The guestrooms emphasize comfort and character: some feature kiva-style fireplaces, while others open onto private patios with mountain views. An original adobe residence on the site has been sensitively preserved and reimagined as a collection of interconnected suites, maintaining historical charm alongside contemporary comforts.
The property is designed as a cultural hub as well as a retreat. A gallery-style lobby hosts rotating exhibitions and a dedicated Artist in Residence program, bringing local and visiting artists into conversation with guests. Outdoor amenities include a pool and hot tub, fire pits, and a versatile terrace for events. For wellness, the hotel offers a contrast therapy circuit with a sauna and cold plunge.

Juliette’s, the hotel’s chef-driven restaurant, pays tribute to Northern New Mexican culinary traditions while refining them with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The menu highlights items such as coal-roasted vegetables grown in the hotel’s edible garden, chile honey–glazed proteins, and delicate servings of calabacitas. The beverage program complements the food with low-intervention wines, small-batch spirits, local beers, and house-fermented sodas infused with medicinal herbs. The team also offers herbal remedio teas that reflect regional plant knowledge.

The hotel’s gallery has featured a rotating roster of artists, including Paulina Ho, Mark Kemper, Johnny Ortiz-Concha, Dean Pulver, Sean Ratliff, and Afton Love. Together, the art program, culinary offerings, thoughtfully preserved architecture, and mountain-setting amenities position Hotel Willa as a quietly sophisticated destination for travelers seeking both cultural engagement and restorative escapes in northern New Mexico.
