Next year, Condor Airlines will relocate its operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport from Terminal 7 to the new Terminal 6. Condor will continue to operate its year-round route between New York/JFK and Frankfurt (FRA) when the terminal opens, maintaining service with its Airbus A330neo aircraft in a three-class layout.

The new Terminal 6 is designed around a digital-first, boutique approach to the guest experience. Travelers can expect a streamlined flow through the facility, with an average walk time of less than five minutes from the TSA security checkpoint to any gate. The terminal will offer roughly 100,000 square feet of retail and dining inspired by New York City, along with lounges, public amenities, and curated art displays. Emphasis on sustainability and premium customer service is integrated throughout the design and operations.
Terminal 6 will include 10 gates, nine of which are built to handle widebody aircraft, allowing it to serve long-haul international flights efficiently. The terminal will also feature a new ground transportation center and one of the longest departure curbs at JFK with dedicated airline-branded passenger drop-off zones. Sustainability certifications for LEED, Envision, and SITES are in progress, reflecting a commitment to environmentally responsible design. Additional investments include a state-of-the-art automated baggage system and advanced TSA screening technologies to speed processing and enhance security.

Condor has served the JFK market since 2014 and has grown its presence on the transatlantic lane to Frankfurt. The move to Terminal 6 is intended to align Condor’s product and service philosophy with the terminal’s boutique and guest-centric environment. Mikko Turtiainen, Condor’s Director of Sales for the Americas, commented on the relocation: “New York/JFK is one of our most important North American gateways, and we are extremely excited to be moving into the new, state-of-the-art Terminal 6. The boutique, curated guest experience of the new terminal is right in line with Condor’s brand DNA. Our distinctive striped branding represents the diversity of destinations and passengers we serve, and our crew. We focus on personalizing the guest experience.”
Turtiainen also highlighted convenience for connecting passengers, noting that Condor travelers will benefit from smooth connections to JetBlue’s Terminal 5 operations, which are within a short walking distance from the T6 gates. This proximity is expected to improve transfer times and overall customer satisfaction for those connecting to domestic and international services operated by partner airlines.
The Terminal 6 development marks a broader effort to modernize JFK’s airport infrastructure, prioritizing passenger comfort, operational efficiency, and sustainability. With advanced baggage handling, enhanced security screening, and an improved curbside experience, the terminal aims to set a new standard for convenience and service at JFK. For Condor, the move represents a strategic update to its New York gateway, positioning the airline to better serve transatlantic travelers with an elevated on-ground experience that complements its in-flight offerings.
