This month, Cathay Pacific began regular Airbus A350 service between Hong Kong (HKG) and Düsseldorf (DUS). The four-times-weekly route operates on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using an A350-900 configured with 38 business class seats, 28 premium economy seats and 214 economy seats. All cabins are equipped with touch-screen in-flight entertainment, power outlets and USB ports, and in-flight WiFi is available.
Flights depart Hong Kong at 12:50 a.m., arriving in Düsseldorf at 7:15 a.m. The return service leaves Düsseldorf at 1:20 p.m. and arrives in Hong Kong at 6:35 a.m. the following day, with an approximate flight time of 12 hours.
Thomas Schnalke, Managing Director of Düsseldorf Airport, welcomed the new service, highlighting its importance for business and tourism. He noted that Düsseldorf is a key economic center and an export hub for North Rhine-Westphalia, and said the airport focuses on developing routes that meet local market needs. The addition of Cathay Pacific’s long-haul connection supports the region’s demand for direct links to major global business centers.
Tony Sham, Cathay Pacific’s Country Manager for Germany and Eastern Europe, said the airline is pleased to offer customers a second German departure airport, joining Frankfurt. He emphasized that Düsseldorf is a strong business destination and that the new route increases Cathay Pacific’s weekly services from Germany to a total of 11 flights.
The A350-900 on this route provides a modern, comfortable travel experience with a full suite of onboard amenities across all classes. Business and premium-economy passengers benefit from extra space and enhanced service, while economy class offers the same entertainment and connectivity options, ensuring a consistent travel experience for all passengers.
With the launch of the Düsseldorf service, travelers from western Germany and surrounding regions gain more convenient access to Hong Kong and onward connections across Cathay Pacific’s global network. The schedule supports both business travelers and tourists seeking direct, long-haul flights without routing through other European hubs.
The new route strengthens ties between Düsseldorf’s commercial community and international markets, reflecting collaborative efforts between the airline and the airport to match service offerings to regional needs. For passengers, the combination of modern aircraft, onboard amenities and a competitive schedule aims to make travel between Hong Kong and Düsseldorf efficient and comfortable.
