Renowned Italian architects RPA and DE Vitta & Schulze are leading a sensitive restoration of the historic Via San Gallo complex, a site with origins in the 12th century. Over the centuries the buildings have served many roles: they housed the convents of Sant’Agata, San Clemente and Santa Lucia di Camporeggi, sheltered artists such as Arcangela Paladini, and were even used as a military hospital. The conversion aims to preserve the site’s layered history while introducing modern luxury.
Capella Florence will feature 89 guest accommodations that blend eight centuries of artistic and cultural heritage with tailored contemporary comforts. Dining options will include two distinguished restaurants—one celebrating Tuscan cuisine and another offering a Japanese sushi omakase experience. Guests can also enjoy a rooftop bar and an atmospheric subterranean speakeasy-style wine vault. Additionally, the hotel will host Capella’s signature Living Room, an exclusive lounge area designed for relaxation and socializing.

Additional amenities will include Capella Spa, featuring a hydrotherapy pool, a fully equipped fitness center and an on-site café. The hotel will also offer an indoor amphitheater for intimate performances and events, plus ten private residences with a dedicated separate entrance for long-stay guests or owners seeking privacy within the historic complex.
By combining careful restoration with contemporary hospitality, Capella Florence intends to honor the site’s rich past while providing a refined, culturally rooted experience for visitors to one of Italy’s most beloved cities.
