Broughton Hotels Fight Hunger: How Their Food Programs Help Communities

In celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day on Wednesday, April 2, broughtonHOTELS will attempt to set a record for the largest number of sandwiches assembled in one hour in Chicago. The objective is to prepare 10,000 sandwiches, which will be donated to St. Jerome’s Ministry, Chicago Lights, Pacific Garden Mission and several other local charities to support efforts against hunger.

From 3–4 p.m. on April 2, volunteers from broughtonHOTELS, the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce and nearby businesses will line Brompton Street, between Pine Grove Avenue and Lakeshore Drive, to assemble the sandwiches and work toward their target. Hotel staff already prepare sandwiches for St. Jerome’s Ministry three times a month; this event will be their largest donation to date.

“The broughtonHOTELS team is committed to doing our part to help fight hunger in Chicago. We hope that preparing sandwiches on National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day will raise awareness and inspire Chicagoans to give back by volunteering with a charity of their choice,” said CEO Larry Broughton.

broughtonHOTELS has recently completed renovations at three historic Chicago boutique properties: The Majestic Hotel, The Willows Hotel and City Suites Chicago. Upgrades include new furnishings, improved lighting, updated window treatments, linens and carpeting, and original artwork throughout the properties.
