British Airways is launching a range of new summer routes from Manchester Airport and London Stansted Airport, expanding its short-haul network to meet growing customer demand.
From May, the airline will operate summer-only direct services from Manchester (MAN) to several popular destinations: Alicante (ALC), Malaga (AGP), Ibiza (IBZ), Palma de Mallorca (PMI), Mykonos (JMK) and Nice (NCE). In addition, British Airways will introduce a weekly service between Manchester and London City Airport (LCY). These Manchester routes will primarily run on weekends at a weekly frequency, except for Ibiza, which will be served three times a week.
At London Stansted (STN), new routes will include Florence (FLR), Geneva (GVA) and Nice, while frequencies to Ibiza and Palma will be increased. Services to Malaga and Faro (FAO) will also resume. All of the announced short-haul flights will be operated using Embraer 190 jet aircraft, providing a consistent regional service across both airports.
Alex Cruz, chief executive officer and chairman of British Airways, said the additions were a direct response to customer preferences. He noted the airline’s goal is to give passengers convenient, direct access to sunny leisure destinations from airports close to home, and that the new routes are expected to be popular throughout the summer season.
Most of the new flights are already on sale; the Manchester–London City route will become available for booking on February 21. The expanded network aims to provide travelers with more choice, greater convenience and improved connectivity for summer holidays and short breaks.
