British Airways Adds New London–Germany Flights: Routes & Schedules

British Airways has announced it will add 34,000 additional seats on services between London City Airport (LCY) and two German destinations, Hamburg (HAM) and Düsseldorf (DUS), for the upcoming winter season.

From October 30, the airline will increase frequencies on the London City–Düsseldorf route from three to four daily flights. To accommodate growing demand, BA will operate its 76-seat Embraer 170 aircraft on both Hamburg and Düsseldorf services, replacing the smaller Saab 2000 turboprop previously used.

The change will double capacity to Hamburg across the airline’s three daily rotations and increase seating on the Düsseldorf route by roughly one third. Earlier this year British Airways also reintroduced a London City–Berlin (TXL) service, and it continues to serve Frankfurt (FRA) and Bremen (BRE) from LCY.

Overall, from October 30 British Airways will operate up to 85 weekly flights between London City Airport and German airports, reflecting stronger demand for travel between the UK and Germany.

Luke Hayhoe, general manager commercial and customer at British Airways London City, said the airline had expanded its network to meet growing demand in Germany and that a larger aircraft fleet makes it easier to offer the extra frequency customers have requested. He noted that the five German cities served from LCY attract both business and leisure travellers and are likely to benefit from the additional capacity and schedule flexibility.
