British Airways Adds More Flights to Cape Town — 2026 Schedule Updates

British Airways will increase service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Cape Town (CPT) by adding three flights per week beginning May 2014 to provide travellers with greater flexibility. During the southern hemisphere summer (October through March), the airline already operates double-daily flights to Cape Town, before reducing to daily frequencies in March. Starting 1 May, British Airways will deploy three Boeing 777-200ER aircraft on the route, adding 657 seats weekly.

The 777-200ERs used on the route feature a four-cabin layout: 12 first class seats, 48 in business class, 32 in premium economy and 127 in economy, offering a range of options for different passenger preferences and budgets. The added overnight services will depart London on Monday, Thursday and Saturday, returning from Cape Town on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, increasing overnight connectivity between the two cities.

This capacity increase follows British Airways’ announcement that it will introduce its new Airbus A380 on flights to Johannesburg (JNB) from mid-February 2014, part of a broader network enhancement across southern Africa.
