Boeing Commercial Airplanes achieved a landmark year in 2014 for both deliveries and orders. The company delivered 734 aircraft that year, setting a new record for the second year in a row, and secured 1,432 net orders with a list-price value of $232.7 billion, surpassing its previous record from 2007.
Several individual programs hit important milestones. Boeing delivered 485 single-aisle 737s, 99 units of the 777 family, and 114 Dreamliners from the 787 program. The 787 deliveries included the first 787-9 delivered to launch customer Air New Zealand and the program’s initial direct deliveries to 13 different airlines.
Among the net commercial orders booked in 2014, the Next-Generation 737 and 737 MAX dominated with 1,104 orders. The 777 family, including orders for the future 777X, accounted for 283 net orders.
“In the face of fierce competition, we had a strong year,” said Ray Conner, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. He added that in 2015 the company would stay focused on meeting customer commitments and preparing for major program milestones, including beginning assembly of the first 737 MAX and finalizing the configuation for the 777X.
