American Express Opens Largest Centurion Lounge Yet: What to Know

American Express has announced plans for its largest Centurion Lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4. Slated to open in early 2019, the two-floor lounge will span approximately 15,000 square feet and offer views overlooking the airfield.

The new Centurion Lounge will provide a range of premium amenities, including a complimentary custom bar and curated food menu, private shower suites, upscale restrooms, high-speed Wi‑Fi and dedicated workspaces. Additional features and services will be revealed by American Express closer to the lounge’s opening.

“We’re excited to bring the Centurion Lounge to JFK, one of the top airports that our Platinum Card Members travel through each year,” said Josh McKay, vice president and general manager, global benefits and services, American Express. “We aim to elevate our Card Members’ travel experiences and our industry-leading lounge program is one of our Card Members’ favorite ways we do this. We look forward to continuing to expand this offering with the Centurion Lounge in JFK and more lounges to come.”

Gert-Jan de Graaff, president and CEO of JFKIAT, the company that operates Terminal 4, welcomed the partnership. “We are thrilled to be working with American Express to bring The Centurion Lounge to Terminal 4,” he said. “Terminal 4 strives to provide passengers with a superior travel experience, and this lounge is a welcome addition to our existing mix of premium terminal amenities. We are excited to soon be able to offer passengers yet another service to take advantage of before departure or during a layover.”

Terminal 4 handles more than 21 million passengers annually, representing roughly one-third of JFK’s overall traffic. With more than half of its travelers arriving from international destinations, the terminal serves a high volume of global passengers. The Centurion Lounge will be available exclusively to American Express Platinum Card and Centurion members, enhancing premium travel options for those cardholders at one of New York City’s busiest international gateways.
