American Express Announces Centurion Lounge Coming to LAX

American Express has announced plans to open its 12th Centurion Lounge in 2019 at Los Angeles International Airport. The new lounge, located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, will occupy approximately 13,900 square feet and feature design elements and amenities inspired by the region. The location is accessible to passengers using Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, positioning it as a convenient retreat for many travelers passing through LAX.

Designed to blend comfort, functionality and local character, the Los Angeles Centurion Lounge introduces several enhancements to the Centurion program. A notable addition is an enhanced tranquility area that offers quiet zones with adjustable lighting intended to help travelers reset and recover from travel-related fatigue and time zone changes. This feature aims to provide a calm, restorative environment for guests seeking a break from the busy terminal.

The lounge’s amenities include a full-service spa area with treatments tailored for travelers who want to relax before or between flights. Families will benefit from a dedicated family room that creates a more comfortable space for children and caregivers. For business travelers and those who need to stay productive, the lounge will offer expanded workspaces, including noise-buffering workstations to reduce distractions and improve focus. These spaces are designed to accommodate different work styles, whether guests need a brief window to check messages or a quieter corner for concentrated work.

In addition to quiet and work-focused areas, the lounge will feature premium restrooms and shower facilities, allowing travelers to refresh before boarding. Visual wall installations and other locally inspired design touches will contribute to the lounge’s atmosphere, reflecting elements of Los Angeles culture and aesthetics while maintaining the signature Centurion look and feel.

Dining at the Centurion Lounge will highlight chef-crafted menus created to deliver a high-quality, complimentary experience. Guests can enjoy a range of dishes prepared by culinary partners, accompanied by a selection of premium wines and specialty cocktails. The food and beverage program is intended to provide a satisfying, upscale option for travelers who prefer to dine in the lounge rather than purchase items in the terminal.

American Express executives emphasized the strategic importance of the LAX location. “On the heels of announcements that we will be bringing new Centurion Lounges to New York and Denver, we are thrilled to open our next lounge in Los Angeles, the No. 2 U.S. airport our Platinum Card members travel through,” said Josh McKay, vice president and general manager, global benefits and services, American Express. McKay noted that Centurion Lounge services are designed to meet the needs of Platinum Card members who travel frequently for both business and leisure, offering a place to relax, reboot and refresh in one of the busiest terminals at LAX.

Los Angeles World Airports leadership echoed that enthusiasm, noting the value of adding a premium lounge to the Tom Bradley International Terminal. “Creating new and fresh experiences at the airport is a key element of our vision to deliver a gold standard airport at LAX and we are pleased to work with American Express to add the Centurion Lounge to the Tom Bradley International Terminal,” said Deborah Flint, CEO, Los Angeles World Airports. The collaboration supports broader efforts to enhance the passenger experience across LAX facilities.

Access to the Centurion Lounge remains a benefit exclusive to American Express Platinum Card members and Centurion members. Platinum Card members may bring up to two travel companions at no additional charge, while Centurion members may enter with immediate family or two travel companions. Cardholders who wish to bring additional guests may purchase access for $50 per guest. These access policies are intended to preserve the lounge’s curated environment while still allowing members to share the space with friends and family when they travel.

The Los Angeles Centurion Lounge is positioned to offer a balanced mix of relaxation, productivity and local flair, catering to a wide range of traveler needs. With spa services, family-friendly areas, upgraded workspaces and a chef-driven dining program, the new lounge aims to provide a premium preflight experience for American Express cardholders passing through LAX.
