American Airlines Launches 3 New Routes from New York City

American Airlines is expanding its network from New York City to several destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America. Beginning Nov. 21, the carrier will introduce daily service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Montego Bay (MBJ), Jamaica, and to Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica. Starting Dec. 21, American will also operate a Saturday-only flight from JFK to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Costa Rica.

The Montego Bay service will depart JFK at 7:00 a.m. and arrive in Jamaica at 11:00 a.m. The return flight departs Montego Bay at 12:00 p.m. and arrives back in New York at 4:09 p.m. The San José service is scheduled to leave JFK at 3:59 p.m., arriving in Costa Rica at 9:42 p.m., with the return flight departing San José at 11:03 p.m. and arriving in New York at 5:19 a.m. the following day. The Saturday-only Liberia flight will depart JFK at 7:00 a.m., arrive in Liberia at 10:55 a.m., and return from Liberia at 11:04 a.m., landing in New York at 4:59 p.m.

All of these new services will be operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

These additions complement American’s recent extensions of other routes into the region. The airline has extended service on routes connecting New York City to Antigua (ANU) and on flights between LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Aruba (AUA). In addition, American Airlines plans to add a second daily flight between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), effective Dec. 18.

With the new and extended services, American Airlines is increasing connectivity between its New York and Dallas hubs and popular leisure destinations across the Caribbean and Central America, offering travelers more options and frequencies for both weekend getaways and longer stays.
