American Airlines and its more than 100,000 employees are raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research through their Be Pink initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The program supports Susan G. Komen and invites customers to join employees in promoting awareness, taking action, and contributing to research funding.
During October, customers can participate in several ways and may receive rewards for their contributions. Those who donate at least $25 to the Miles for the Cure program earn 20 AAdvantage miles for each dollar contributed when donating online. This incentive encourages travelers to support research while earning frequent‑flyer benefits.
Passengers will encounter the Be Pink campaign both on the ground and in the air. Many American Airlines employees will wear Be Pink accessories as part of their uniforms—items such as socks, ties, and scarves—to commemorate the cause. Onboard service will also reflect the campaign, with select Be Pink‑branded items and limited menu offerings available in some Admirals Club lounges.
This fall marks the 21st edition of the American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Weekend, a long‑running fundraising event held later this month. Since its inception in 1995, the event has raised more than $11.5 million for Susan G. Komen, demonstrating the airline’s sustained commitment to supporting breast cancer research and patients.
American Airlines has partnered with the breast cancer community for more than three decades and serves as the Official Airline of Susan G. Komen. Last year, employee, customer, and corporate contributions helped raise over $1 million for the cause. Customers interested in supporting or learning more about the program are encouraged to visit the airline’s Be Pink information page.
