American Airlines Adds New Routes to Mexico, the Caribbean & Latin America

American Airlines is expanding its network across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America with eight new routes scheduled to begin later this year. The new services are intended to give customers more travel choices and strengthen the carrier’s presence in these important markets. Pending regulatory approvals, American will add flights to Mexico City International Airport; General Rafael Buelna International Airport in Mazatlán, Mexico; Curaçao International Airport; Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana International Airport; Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, Ecuador.

“As the premier carrier to Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America with flights to 85 destinations, these additions highlight our commitment to providing our customers with a network that is second to none,” said Art Torno, senior vice president for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America at American Airlines. “We are committed to each country we serve, and these new routes allow us to contribute to and further promote travel and tourism to and from the region.”

In addition to those new routes, American Airlines plans to resume service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas, Venezuela, beginning Dec. 17. The route will operate five times weekly using Boeing 757 aircraft, and tickets are now available for booking.

These network additions reflect American Airlines’ strategy to deepen connectivity across the Western Hemisphere, offering more non-stop options for both leisure and business travelers. By increasing frequency and adding destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America, the airline aims to support tourism growth while providing convenient connections for customers traveling within the region and beyond.

Passengers can expect a mix of leisure-focused routes serving popular resort destinations as well as key city links that support commerce and travel between major hubs. As always, schedules and frequencies will be subject to regulatory approval and may be adjusted seasonally to meet demand.

Travelers interested in these routes should check American Airlines’ official booking channels for the latest schedule details, aircraft assignments, and availability. The airline continues to prioritize a reliable network and expanded options for customers traveling to, from, and within Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
