Next year, American Airlines expands its transatlantic network with nine new non-stop routes from major U.S. hubs to sought-after destinations in Europe, making European travel more convenient for many passengers.
For the 2019 summer season, the airline will launch the first-ever non-stop service between the United States and Croatia. Thrice-weekly flights will link Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) with Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), opening direct access to the Adriatic coast and the historic port city that has grown in popularity in part due to the television series Game of Thrones.
Philadelphia will also gain the first non-stop flight from the United States to Bologna, Italy (BLQ), as well as new non-stop connections to Berlin-Tegel Airport in Germany and Edinburgh Airport in Scotland. These additions give travelers more direct options to northern and southern Europe from a single U.S. gateway.
From Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), American will introduce non-stop service to Athens (ATH), offering a convenient route to Greece for both leisure and business travelers.
Passengers in Charlotte (CLT), North Carolina, and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Texas, will benefit from new seasonal flights to Munich (MUC) operating June 6–Oct. 26, timed to coincide with the Oktoberfest period. In addition, Dallas travelers will have daily non-stop service to Dublin (DUB), Ireland, starting June 6, providing year-round access to Ireland’s capital.
The final new seasonal route will run March 31–Oct. 26, connecting Phoenix (PHX) with London Heathrow Airport (LHR), adding another transatlantic option from the U.S. West.
These route additions expand nonstop choices across the Atlantic, reduce travel time by eliminating connections, and support growing demand for direct service to European leisure and business destinations.
