Hawaiian Airlines is responding to increased summer travel demand by restoring seasonal non-stop service between Oakland (OAK) and Los Angeles (LAX) and the Hawaiian Islands—Kaua’i (LIH) and Kona (KOA)—beginning May 20, 2015. The carrier will also add a second daily seasonal non-stop between Los Angeles and Maui (OGG) starting June 11, 2015.
“It is never too early to start planning for summer travel, and these non-stop flights were so popular with our travelers this summer that we wanted to bring them back so that our guests can have more options and more flexibility when visiting the Hawaiian Islands,” said Peter Ingram, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Hawaiian Airlines. “We are proud to continue to support the visitor industries of Kaua’i, Maui and Hawai’i Island, and also offer our island residents direct access to the Bay Area and Southern California.”
The seasonal Oakland and Los Angeles services linking Kaua’i and Hawai’i Island will add roughly 110,000 seats across both markets during 15 to 18 weeks of operation. Those routes will be flown with Hawaiian’s twin-aisle Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, which feature 18 first class seats. In addition, more than 53,000 seats will be added on the Los Angeles–Maui market over 14 weeks when the second daily seasonal flight operates. That service will use Hawaiian’s twin-aisle Airbus A330-200 aircraft, also configured with 18 first class seats.
By expanding these seasonal non-stop options, Hawaiian Airlines aims to give travelers greater choice and capacity for summer travel to the islands while maintaining connections for residents traveling between Hawaii and California. The mix of Boeing 767-300ER and Airbus A330-200 aircraft provides a balance of capacity and comfort for both leisure visitors and local passengers, supporting tourism and resident travel needs throughout the peak season.
