Alaska Airlines is expanding its network with a new daily nonstop between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and San Diego International Airport (SAN). The service operates year-round, providing another direct link between Southern California and the New York City area.
The westbound flight departs San Diego at 9:55 a.m. and arrives in Newark at 5:55 p.m., with a scheduled flight time of about five hours. The eastbound return leaves Newark at 7:00 p.m. and lands in San Diego at 10:00 p.m., with a scheduled flight time of approximately six hours.
Alaska will operate the route with a Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The cabin features 12 first-class seats and 147 economy seats. First-class offers 36 inches of legroom; there are no lie-flat seats on this configuration. Main cabin seats provide about 31 inches of legroom. All seats are equipped with laptop and USB charging ports for passenger convenience.
“We continue to offer more non-stop options from San Diego for our valued Southern California customers. Newark becomes our third East Coast destination from San Diego along with Boston (BOS) and Orlando (MCO), and provides travelers easy access to the New York City metro area,” said John Kirby, vice president of capacity planning for Alaska Airlines.
This new San Diego–Newark nonstop adds to Alaska’s growing presence at Newark. It complements the daily San Diego–Portland (PDX) service launched earlier in November and joins additional daily routes from Seattle (SEA) and San Jose (SJC) scheduled to begin in the spring, further expanding Alaska’s coast-to-coast connectivity.
